Chicken Biryani

Ingredients

  • Rice - 2 cups
  • Water - 3 cups
  • Chicken - 500 gms
  • Onions(small size) - 100 gms
    (chopped)
  • Whole hot green chillies - 4-6 nos (depends on your taste)
  • Ginger-Garlic paste- 2 tsp
  • Tomatoes - 3 nos
    (chopped)
  • Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt - as reqd
  • Lemon - half
  • Yogurt - 1 cup
  • Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
  • Cilantro - 1/4 cup chopped
  • Mint leaves -
    1/2 cup chopped
  • Oil - 2 tbsp(canola oil) Or any oil
  • Ghee or Butter - 1 tbsp
  • Cinnamon - 1/2 inch
  • Cardamom - 2 nos
  • Cloves - 2 nos
  • Bay Leaf -2
Method
  1. 1.Heat oil and ghee in pressure cooker

  1. 2.Add cinnamon, cardamom,cloves,and bay leaf.

  1. 3.When color changes, add onions, green chillies and ginger garlic paste.

  1. 4.when golden brown add tomato, turmeric powder, chilli powder,mint leaves and coriander leaves.

  1. 5.After the tomatoes get cooked,add yogurt and mix well 6.Then add washed chicken and required salt.

  1. 7.Fry until 3/4 th done. Now add water and allow to come to a little boil. check for seasonings.

  1. 8.Add rice & lemon juice in cooker and blend well.

  1. 9.Close the cooker and put whistle when the steam starts coming out of the cooker nozzle consistently.

  1. 10.Keep the gas on medium. wait 10 mins and switch off. Allow the pressure to settle and then open cooker. Mix evrything well and serve with curd pachidi.
